Today at Tet dinner, mom & dad told us more of their experience coming over from Vietnam on a boat. The picture below is of the boat they came in – it was lost at sea for 4 days and ran out of fuel. They went a full day and night with no food and water not knowing if they would survive. My dad said in order to keep himself from feeling thirsty anymore, he would jump into the freezing sea to keep his mind of it; all the while being worried about sharks and such. They were rescued by an American ship, the Kilauea. My mom made that SOS sign. Really crazy and humbling to hear.
